Not to be dramatic, but sticker witch hats are one of my most popular Halloween activities EVER

A few minutes before this beauty came over, I decided I wanted to make some type of easy witch craft (no pun intended) with her, but I literally had four minutes to before she’d be there.

I stood in front of my art supplies looking for basic, easy, little-prep materials and quickly grabbed some black paper and my sticker bucket.

With two minutes to spare, I had the entire activity prepped and ready.

I had prepped three hats for her, but as we started, I quickly realized I needed more paper.

And then more.

We added more and more hats, she flew through more and more stickers, and before she left, she even asked to take black paper and stickers home to make MORE.

I’d say it was a hit.

How to make sticker witch hats magical

Creating sticker witch hats is as easy as one, two, boo!

Just trace, cut, and stick—your preschooler will be spellbound by how quickly their witch hat comes to life.

Whether they’re covering their hat in dot stickers, Halloween stickers, the random collection of stickers you’ve been collecting for 25 years, this preschool Halloween craft is adorable!

Fun ways to display your Halloween sticker hats

Once your sticker witch hats are decorated, there are tons of fun ways to display them.

Gallery: Hang up them up around your home or classroom for a witchy gallery.

Party decorations: You could even use them as part of your Halloween party decor, taping them to walls or stringing them up like a garland.

Witch hat headbands: Attach the witch hats to a long piece of paper (sentence strips would work great) for easy headbands.

Sneaky ways to add math into your sticker witch hat fun

Add an educational twist to your Sticker Witch Hats Preschool Halloween Activity with these activities:

Counting: After the hats are decorated, have your child count the number of stickers on each one.

Sorting: You can also ask them to group the hats by the number of stickers they contain, reinforcing basic math skills in a fun and playful way.

Addition: Write a math equation on the hat (ex: 10+10) and invite your child to add that many stickers to their hat to solve the equation.

Why stickers are great for kids

This sticker witch hat preschool Halloween activity is not only fun but also educational.

Stickers help improve fine motor skills, encouraging little fingers to peel and place with precision.

This activity also fosters creativity, allowing kids to explore color, shape, and design.

Plus, it’s a super simple way to make any preschool Halloween craft extra special without a lot of prep and planning.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use other colors for the hats?

Absolutely! While black is traditional for witch hats, feel free to use any color your child prefers (which sounds super fun!).

Where do I get the witch hat template?

Get them here!

Is this a fine-motor activity?

YES! From cutting out the hats to adding the stickers, this project is loaded with fine-motor fun.
