This Spring Directed Draws set is everything you’d hope for

Directed draws are always, always going to be one of my most favorite things to do with kids! They’re an easy win.

Our “one step at a time” approach leads kids through how to draw beautiful designs from the very first line to the very last touch.

Whether you are working with preschoolers, kindergarteners, or first graders, they’re going to love this set and all of the new art that they will be able to draw, just 👏🏼 like 👏🏼that. 👏🏼

The 9-step directions for how to draw a frog sits next to a completed sample. Text reads "Easy to follow step-by-step directions. Adorable art every time."

Your kids will build tremendous confidence through the Spring directed drawings

In this guide, kids will enjoy the step-by-step directions to create a:

  • Tulip
  • Butterfly
  • Bird
  • Bee
  • Daisy
  • Rainbow
  • Birdhouse
  • Frog (who we call Frank…more on this in a minute 😂)

Instead of hearing kids say things like, “I can’t draw that,” you’ll hear shrieks of, “I JUST MADE A FROG” and, “Come look at my butterfly!” It’s joy stacked on joy stacked on joy!

It’s got it all, friends: cuteness, easy-to-follow guides for kids to use, and hours of creativity just waiting for you.

Materials

You’ll need the digital download guide and any basic art materials.

  • Digital guide: Our Directed Drawing shop is one of my favorite places on the internet and the Spring guide is located here.
  • Art supplies: This is one of the best parts about directed draws: you can use any of your favorite drawing and art supplies.

My favorite materials are black Sharpies, watercolors, and oil pastels. However, you could use crayons, markers, colored pencils, a regular pencil…anything!

Directions

It’s just as simple as it sounds: use the guide to draw and draw and draw.

You can print off the packet, or you can use it digitally. Use it however works best for you!

I have seen many teachers use the guides on SmartBoards to guide a whole class through the steps together, and it’s adorable.

On the other hand, I have also seen many people print off the guides and invite their kids to create independently, free from any adult interaction.

We love how versatile these are and how you can use them to best meet your child’s needs.

What’s included in the Spring Directed Draws pack?

For each of the eight designs, the pack includes the following:

  • A step-by-step guide
  • 2-3 full-color samples for you to see different color schemes and art supplies
  • 3 full-color photos of the item in real life (ex: for the tulip, there’s a photo of a single tulip, a photo of a field of tulips, and a photo of a bouquet of tulips)
A sample of the frog from the set sits on a green background. The frog is dark

Have you met Frank the Frog?

I know directed draws are new to many people, so I created this video to model how fun directed draws are to use!

My inbox has several Franks every day, making me jump for joy each time.

Spring is extra wonderful with the Spring Directed Draws pack

Your little artists will absolutely love drawing all kinds of springtime items.

In fact, you might want to find an empty frame because often, these are so lovely that they need to go straight into a frame or onto the refrigerator.

Have fun!

Several children gather around a table, busy coloring in a flower giant coloring poster that stretches the entire length of the surface. The poster includes cheerful sunflowers, bold daisies, patterned tulips, and cartoon bugs. The scene is full of spring energy, with vibrant colors like fuchsia, lime green, and royal blue filling in the outlines. Kids are using markers from small pastel-colored bowls placed evenly across the table.
